We are so excited to invite our CHOP families to our upcoming community cooking session! This isn’t a classroom—it’s a hands-on kitchen party where kids are the head chefs and parents are the sous-chefs.
Event Details: The “Rainbow Power-Bowl” Party
In this session, we’ll be making our signature Rainbow Power-Bowls. These are completely customizable, making them perfect for even the pickiest eaters!
- When: Saturday, May 16th | 10:30 AM – 12:00 PM
- Where: The CHOP Community Kitchen (and streaming live for those at home!)
- Who: Parents, caregivers, and kids of all ages.
What We’ll Be Doing
1. The “Fuel Station” Tour
Our doctors will kick things off with a quick, fun game called “What’s Your Superpower?” We’ll learn which foods help us run fast, which ones help us think clearly, and which ones help us grow strong.
2. Hands-On Prep
It’s time to get messy! We’ll have different stations where kids can:
- The Mash Master: Smash avocados for a creamy “Green Power” sauce.
- The Rainbow Shredder: Use kid-safe tools to shred colorful carrots and purple cabbage.
- The Grain Grain-iac: Fluff up some “Go-Fuel” (quinoa or brown rice) and learn how it keeps our engines running longer.
3. The Great Bowl Build
Every child gets their own bowl to decorate! We’ll have a “Rainbow Bar” filled with beans, corn, bright veggies, and grilled chicken or tofu. The goal? See who can get the most colors in their bowl!
Why You’ll Love It
- Stress-Free Cooking: We use simple, “no-cook” or “quick-cook” ingredients that you can find at any local grocery store.
- Kid-Tested, Doctor-Approved: You’ll leave with a recipe card that has been vetted by our specialists to ensure it’s packed with the good stuff.
- The “I Made It” Factor: We find that when kids help chop, stir, and build their meals, they are much more excited to eat them!
How to Join
Spaces for the in-person event are limited to ensure everyone has a station, so be sure to RSVP via the link below. Can’t make it in person? No problem! We’ll send out a “Kitchen Kit” list ahead of time so you can follow along with us virtually from your own kitchen.
